Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center Convenes Virtual Meeting with Centre Antoine Lacassagne to Forge Future Collaboration

July 30, 2023 — Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) held a productive online meeting with France’s renowned Centre Antoine Lacassagne, marking a significant step toward future collaboration in clinical exchanges and oncology research.

Deputy Party Secretary Chen Zhen thanked Dr. Lei Ping for her pivotal role in facilitating the dialogue and expressed his enthusiasm for the introduction to Prof. Barranger. He praised Centre Antoine Lacassagne as a globally recognized cancer center and conveyed FUSCC’s strong interest in deepening cooperation in academic exchanges, talent development, medical artificial intelligence, and clinical research.

Prof. Barranger provided an overview of the Nice-based center, a leading non-profit comprehensive cancer facility and member of UNICANCER — Europe’s exclusive hospital network specialized in oncology. He highlighted the center’s expertise in precision medicine, AI-driven healthcare, de-escalation therapy, and holistic patient care, spanning prevention through post-operative recovery. He also expressed particular interest in Chinese approaches to oncology and commended FUSCC’s academic reputation and international influence.

Both parties affirmed a shared commitment to formalizing their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding, expected to be finalized and signed by the end of the year. Initial collaborative efforts will focus on: Medical artificial intelligence, Radiotherapy and proton therapy, Professional training and staff exchanges and De-escalation therapy practices.

This promising partnership aims to combine strengths and resources to advance cancer care and innovation on a global scale.
